Harrogate and the surrounding districts, together with nearby Ripon, Knaresborough and outlying villages offer some of the most varied attractions anywhere in Britain. From the intriguing past of Knaresborough Castle to the development of Harrogate town as England's premier spa town.

The Council is responsible for making decisions on behalf of the local community about local services, such as land use, refuse collection, housing and leisure facilities. The Council is also responsible for the conduct of all Local, General and European elections and referendums.
